Comparison of Skin Staples Versus Prolene Sutures for Closure of Neck Dissection Incisions in Terms of Aesthetics and Wound Healing

Objective: To compare skin staples with prolene for closure of neck dissection incisions in terms time wound closure, pain on removal and aesthetic outcome. Study design setting: Single blinded, prospective clinical study carried out at Sharif Medical Dental College, Lahore from 19.04.2021 to 18.04.2022. Materials methods: All healthy (ASA-I/II) patients requiring were enrolled the study. The divided into two groups, incision group A was closed 3/0 vicryl 5/0 while B using stainless-steel staples. Results: Total 140 70 each group. In A, 37 males 33 females B, 43 27 females. age 52.69+8.1 years 51.93+8.2 years. mean 35.2+2.7 minutes it 3.5+0.4 minutes. Pain VAS 22.1+6.3 21.8+5.5 B. 23 excellent, moderate 10 poor 38 05 aesthetically. Overall, results statistically significant placement they insignificant Conclusion: conclude that are a better modality closing after as quicker apply yield similar outcomes sutures.
